September 20, 1934 - March 10, 2010 We say goodbye to a wonderful husband, father, brother, teacher and friend. Floyd is at rest after a long battle with Alzheimer?s disease.
Floyd leaves to mourn his wife of 49 years Edythe; daughter Kerith (Mike); granddaughters Mercedes and Montana; and brother Ellis (Jessie). He was predeceased by daughter Michelle; sister Margaret; and brothers David and Dennis.
Born on a farm outside Minnedosa, Manitoba, Floyd had many adventures. He had a love of reading and a gift of music he shared with us throughout his lifetime, teaching music in the schools and also as a member of the Calgary Concert Band. Floyd joined the reserves at 15 and served in the Military until 1960. After obtaining is B. Ed from the U of C, Floyd began his long and rewarding career as a teacher. Most of his years were spent teaching music at Forest Lawn High School. He retired in 1990 and continued his military involvement with the Naval Reserve HMCS Tecumseh reaching rank of CPO Director of Music. After retirement, Floyd and Edythe lived and taught English in Slovakia and Turkey for four years.
They enjoyed travelling together in their RV and vacationing south of the border. Floyd was a member of Tecumseh Association, 285 Legion, Strathcona Association, we will all miss you.
